Illinois Quarterly Law Update: 1.9 Billion Robocalls, a $500 State Registry Claim, and a Seventh Circuit Text Ruling You Need to Read
Illinois took 1.90 billion robocalls in 2025 and 119,697 Do Not Call complaints — the fourth-highest complaint rate in America. The Restricted Call Registry Act pays $500 per violation. In July 2026 the Seventh Circuit limited DNC text claims. Voice robocalls did not get a holiday.
Idaho Quarterly Law Update: 165 Million Robocalls, a $1,000 Consumer Protection Floor, and the Quiet State That Still Has a Private Right of Action
Idaho took 164.9 million robocalls in 2025 and 11,183 Do Not Call complaints. Federal TCPA damages of $500–$1,500 apply to every illegal ring. The Idaho Consumer Protection Act can add a $1,000 statutory floor.
Hawaii Quarterly Law Update: 110 Million Robocalls, $1,000 UDAP Minimums, and Why Island Time Does Not Apply to the TCPA
Hawaii took about 110 million robocalls in 2025 and 5,675 Do Not Call complaints. Federal TCPA still pays $500–$1,500 per illegal call. Hawaii’s UDAP statute can add a $1,000 floor or treble damages. The ocean is not a defense.
Georgia Quarterly Law Update: SB 73 Removed the Easy Defense — $1,000 a Call, Class Actions, and 3.3 Billion Robocalls
Georgia took 3.34 billion robocalls in 2025 and 89,691 Do Not Call complaints. SB 73 (July 1, 2024) created a true mini-TCPA: vicarious liability, no “I didn’t know” defense, private suits, and class actions. Atlanta is still the country’s #1 robocall city.
Florida Quarterly Law Update: FTSA + TCPA Means $1,000–$3,000 Per Call, 4 Billion Robocalls, and a 15-Day Text Trap
Florida took about 4.02 billion robocalls in 2025 and 204,702 Do Not Call complaints (933 per 100,000 — fifth-worst in America). The Florida Telephone Solicitation Act still stacks $500–$1,500 on top of the federal TCPA. Text claims now need a STOP and a 15-day wait.
Delaware Quarterly Law Update: The Only State Where Complaints Fell — and 134 Million Robocalls Still Got Through
Delaware was one of two states where Do Not Call complaints dropped in 2025 (−11.6%). YouMail still counted 134 million robocalls. Federal TCPA damages of $500–$1,500 did not take a year off. Neither should you.
Connecticut Quarterly Law Update: The $20,000 Call — Strictest Hours in America and 422 Million Robocalls
Connecticut’s 2023 mini-TCPA still leads the nation: prior express written consent, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. only, and up to $20,000 per violation through CUTPA. 30,895 Do Not Call complaints and 422 million robocalls in 2025 say the law is not theoretical.
Colorado Quarterly Law Update: 655 Million Robocalls, a State No-Call List, and $500–$2,000 on the Wrong Side of the Line
Colorado took 51,924 Do Not Call complaints in 2025 (894 per 100,000) and about 655 million robocalls. The No Call List Act feeds the Colorado Consumer Protection Act. State AG actions need a pattern. Your TCPA claim does not.
California Quarterly Law Update: 4 Billion Robocalls, 304,000 Complaints, and Why TCPA Still Pays When CIPA Headlines Steal the Show
California received about 3.99 billion robocalls in 2025 and filed 304,497 Do Not Call complaints — more raw complaints than any state in this update. Federal TCPA damages of $500–$1,500 per illegal call still apply. State privacy statutes are changing around the edges. The phone claim is not one of them.
