The Texts Were Worth Fighting. The $35,000 Sanctions File Was Worth More.
An Arizona company texted a Missouri number on the No-Call List, then sent a non-lawyer into Jefferson County to play attorney. The court struck the filings, sanctioned the LLC and Juan Jose Lopez $35,000 for unauthorized practice of law, and I dismissed the underlying case on purpose. The texts were the opening. The sanctions file is the payday.
