50-State Quarterly Law Update Index: Damages, Robocalls, and the Private Right of Action in Every State

Illegal calls do not stop at the state line. The statute that pays you does.

This is the master index for TeleJustice Academy’s Q3 2026 quarterly law updates — Alabama through Wyoming. Each post covers that state’s current telemarketing and robocall rules, what changed in 2025–26, federal TCPA damages of $500 to $1,500 per illegal call, any state mini-TCPA on top, YouMail volume, Do Not Call complaint counts, and a conservative “left on the table” figure.

How to use it: Open your state. Read the damages line. Register at donotcall.gov. Log the next call. Then open the Playbook for your state at telejusticeacademy.com and telejusticepro.com.

Read these first if you only have ten minutes

  • Highest complaint rates: Arizona · Tennessee · Nevada
  • Biggest state add-ons: Connecticut ($20,000) · Missouri ($5,000) · Texas (SB 140 + DTPA) · Virginia ($500 / $1,000 / $5,000) · Florida (FTSA stacks) · Oklahoma (OTSA stacks)
  • 2026 statute changes: Oregon HB 3865 · New York FAIR Act · Virginia VTPPA · Washington CEMA · Seventh Circuit texts — IL / IN / WI
  • Home base: Missouri · New York Consumer Justice companion · Texas Consumer Justice companion

The rule that does not change

Federal TCPA damages are $500 per illegal call or text, $1,500 if a court finds the violation knowing or willful. State mini-TCPAs can stack. YouMail volume is an estimate of all robocalls, including some that are legal. The “left on the table” math in each post uses 2025 DNC complaint counts × $500 as a conservative floor — not a promise and not a class-action valuation.

You do not need a law degree. You need a log, a screenshot, and the Playbook for your state.
